EXECUTIVE EVENTS
& CAMPAIGNS
Every year SGA hosts a variety of events, campaigns, and activities for the student body. As well as legislative meetings with the executive team and the student government senate.
INTEREST MEETINGS & ELECTIONS
Soon after the Fall semester begins, so do SGA interest meetings and elections for the Legislative Branch: Senate. Each class has 13 positions including 1 class president, 1 class vice president, and 1 class multicultural senator, totaling 52 total people among classes.
SEMESTER BUDGET MEETING
Our semi-annual Budget Meeting is the official passing of the allocated budget portioned for student organizations. A representative from each organization is required to attend, and senators may lobby for an organization if they wish to increase that organization's funding. Money can only be taken from the allocated amount meaning that to increase one organization’s budget, you have to subtract from another organization’s budget.
WILDCAT WEEK
By participating in Wildcat Week, we use this opportunity to welcome freshmen to ACU, promote the Student Government Association, and offer food/drink, giveaways, and establish our presence on campus.
JOIN WEEK
Join Week exists to promote all the student organizations that we help fund. We want students to get involved somewhere on campus, and this campaign week helps fulfill SGA’s mission. We do this primarily through a marketing campaign, social media promotion, tabling in the campus center, and this year, an event called Join Week Bingo. We were able to partner with several different student organizations to encourage the student body to learn more about them by visiting organizations prompted by their bingo card.
ACU VOTES
The ACU Votes Campaign exists to register students to vote in Taylor County. We believe that it is important for students to register to vote right here on ACU’s campus so that they are more motivated to participate in elections and be an active member of society
KINDNESS WEEK
A new addition to the campaign week schedule this year, Kindness Week is aimed at creating an atmosphere of encouragement on campus that is focussed on inspiring and equipping the student body. Centered and rooted in Colossians 3:12+13, Kindness Week promotes opportunities for students to live out Jesus’ calling of kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. These opportunities span from writing an encouraging note to a friend and passing it forward, to calling home and thanking someone who has made a difference in their life.
IMPROVE ACU
Your campus. Your ideas. Your chance - to Improve ACU. Have you ever thought, “ACU needs ____?” This event is for students to submit their best ideas to improve our campus in the Improve ACU Competition. Submissions are chosen based on merit and the winner is awarded $500 in prize money to go towards their idea. The winner works with the Student Government Association to develop and execute their idea.
LITMAS
Since 2018, the Student Government Association has hosted the annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony. The purpose of this event is to bring the ACU community together through music, prayer, thanksgiving, scripture reading, supporting small businesses, and all things Christmas-related. Though the name of this event has changed throughout the years (previously called “Litmas” and “Christmas Around the World”), the purpose of it remains the same. This year, as we place the Christmas Tree back in the Campus Mall area, we decided to stay on-brand with ACU’s usage of “the hill” – so come and light it up with us!
GREEN WEEK
Green Week is a campaign week focused on connecting and reconnecting students to information and advocacy about sustainability, recycling, and resources that are environmentally friendly. This week accomplishes these goals through large group events, information distribution both on physical pamphlets as well as social media, and free handout of resources such as compost kits and reusable tote bags
